You know, back in the old days, German inhabitants of Heidelberg had to spend their weekends going to eat at the many restaurants, visiting the medieval castle, or driving out to the countryside to view the beautiful scenery.

I’ve personally been to the city several times to visit cousins, and I always wondered what could be added to the area in order to enrich and enhance the experience ten-fold.

Well, I think I’ve at last found my answer:

From RT:

A man armed with a knife has driven a car into people in the southern German city of Heidelberg, injuring three pedestrians, according to police. The suspect was shot after a short standoff with officers and taken to the hospital.

The incident occurred in Heidelberg’s central square at around 16:00 local time (15:00 GMT), when a car drove into a group of people standing in front of a local bakery, German media report. Rhein-Neckar Zeitung reports that he deliberately drove into the crowd, citing eyewitnesses. However, this has not been confirmed by police.

The suspect, who was armed with a knife, then fled the scene and was later stopped by a police patrol. He was shot by an officer following a short standoff and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

A video has surfaced on Twitter purportedly showing the man’s standoff with police. RT cannot confirm the authenticity of the video embedded below.

We’ll of course keep you updated on the racial nature of the suspect, although does anybody really want to bet against it being Kebab?

Come on now, guys, I have a baby on the way in like 10 days and need more shekels to buy diapers and stuff – let’s do twenty dollars per bet.
