Russian Court Bans Jehovah’s Witnesses

I have to admit that this is kind of funny. I remember seeing these Jehovah’s Witnesses people knocking on people’s doors around my neighborhood trying to recruit members. It was really quite obnoxious.

Looks like the Russians felt the same way. Russia’s Supreme Court has banned them declaring them an extremist organization!

From USA Today:

Russia’s Supreme Court formally banned Jehovah’s Witnesses as an extremist organization Thursday and ordered the state to seize its property in Russia, according to Russian news media.

The court, after six days of hearings, ordered the closing of the group’s Russia headquarters and its 395 local chapters.

The Interfax news agency quoted Justice Ministry attorney Svetlana Borisova in court as saying the Jehovah’s Witnesses pose a threat to Russians.

“They pose a threat to the rights of the citizens, public order and public security,” she told the court.

Borisova also said the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ opposition to blood transfusions violates Russian health care laws.

Maybe the Russians are right to ban them. They are certainly a pretty weird bunch but I wouldn’t have prioritized them for a ban.

Russia should ban Jews as a top priority. Jews represent the most insane extremist group on the planet. Or how about Islam? That’s another extremist ideology that should be banned.

There should not be a single synagogue or mosque in Russia.

  1. I remember a couple years ago two jehovah nitwitsis came to my door wearing their suits and ties. It was a day before halloween so when I opened the door I said Oh my, trick or treaters dressed up like jehovah's witness. That's really scary! Not surprisingly, they failed to find the humor. Somehow my neighborhood must have been some kind of training ground for them because a new gang would show up every couple weeks. I finally had to make a sign that said NO JEHOVAS and stuck it on my walkway to the front door. That actually worked quite well.
I can understand why Russia banned them as they are quite the mind control cult, about as bad as Mormonism.

  2. They are very strange and annoying people.

  3. I accidentally figured out a way to make JW's leave me alone. When they give me their sales pitch I just tell them I worship Apollo or some other Roman god. They aren't programmed to respond to that kind of argument.

  4. When somebody tries to convert me to their brand of religion I have one reply. "That's bullshit." Gets rid of 'em very quickly.
